SCBR (Smart Connected Bridge) Method

The pretensioned prestressed concrete continuous girder bridge consists of individual pretensioned precast concrete main girders that are to be connected by casting reinforced concrete in situ in the direction of the bridge at the bearing points to form the continuous main girder structure. The girder structure allows reduction of the traffic noise and facilitates maintenance and repair work of the bridge. This type of bridge can also be adopted for this very reason. Our SCBR or smartly connected bridge method is a newly improved one to this type of bridge construction to enable an easier, more economical, more durable and more landscape-friendly one. This new method features precast transverse beams installed on the bearings by which the main girders are connected and therefore at the connecting point a single bearing is sufficient to support the girder both during and after the connection work.

Features

  • The construction period and costs can be reduced by the simplified piers for new construction.
  • In the case that replacement of the bridge decks is carried out by making good use of the existing two-pillar piers, the in-situ casting work of the transverse beams on the top of the piers is not required and that allows to reduce traffic control time and construction costs.
  • The method can reduce the number of the bearings by far and materialize cost reduction and easy maintenance and repair.
